Baby Girls Nursery Reveal

Apr 16, 2021

When we first found out we were expecting baby number two, naturally the hardest part was waiting until we could find out if we were having a baby boy or baby girl. While it didn’t matter and all we wanted and could hope for was a healthy baby, we were quite ecstatic to learn we were adding a precious baby girl to complete our family. As soon as we heard the news it was game on for me, time to design my dream baby girl nursery! Anyone who knows me knows I’m a tad OCD,  pinch perfectionist, a dash of crazy and a have a whole lot of passion for design.

My first vision was the most pink, soft and feminine nursery, after all I am living my pink bedroom dreams through my future daughter. First decision we had to make was what room she would take, we finalized moving Denver into our guest room and keeping the nursery, the nursery. Originally this wasn’t what I wanted because we had a shiplap wall in the nursery and all I could envision was this beautiful Joanna Gaines wallpaper for my baby girls nursery. After coming to the realization that I could now decorate a nursery and a big boy room, I was more than happy to take on the challenge. I convinced Brad to take some of the shiplap down so I could still have my dream wallpaper as an added accent and we installed a beautiful ledge moulding on top of the shiplap to complete it and make it a bit softer. The wallpaper was easy to install, the pattern wasn’t hard to match and it looks like a dream! First step complete!

Since we decided to transition Denver to a big boy bed / bedroom it didn’t make much sense to buy a new crib or dresser (not ideal for my OCD) so I worked with what we had which fortunately was gender neutral. We kept the light fixture because it suited the room perfectly and to be honest to this day is one of my favourite purchases from Wayfair. With all the big items in place really all that was left was finishing the décor. I traded out Denver’s glider, while it was cute it was not comfortable, and got something a little bigger and something more suitable to the space I envisioned. I originally found the rocker on Wayfair but after some digging found the exact same one at Walmart for cheaper, score!

After the chair was in place I scrolled for hours on Wayfair and Amazon and walked the isles of Homesense where I found some of my finishing pieces like the beautiful carved wooden shelf, the golden 3 tier floating shelf, her unique brass mirror, throw blanket and vases. The one thing I found the hardest to settle on was curtains. Although I found the perfect rod from Bouclair, I couldn’t find anything that was feminine enough, long enough for our tall ceilings or provided blackout options for nap times. After seeing some inspiration from a local Home Décor blogger on Instagram I knew I HAD to have these curtains she put in her daughters room. They were the most beautiful pink, linen curtains with ties on the top which could be formed into the sweetest bows. They were long enough and the price was right. They didn’t provide the blackout feature that I wanted but I wasn’t willing to compromise so instead traded out the blinds for a black out cellular shade to pull down for nap time. Now that’s a win, win!

There’s a few final, custom pieces I am waiting on, like a beautiful wooden name cut out for above her crib, custom growth chart and printing off some of her newborn pictures when she arrives! With her due date fast approaching I really couldn’t resist the excitement and  wanted to share her space with you!

Our little girls nursery has quickly become a favourite room in the house for myself and Brad too. He currently uses it as his home office while working from home because the rocker is just that darn comfy! While he likes it for its comfort I love how bright, soft and feminine the room is and how easily it can transition with her as she grows into a big girl room. Next up is Denver’s big boy room, which is also a fan favourite … stay tuned!
